“Premium for high oleic sunoil vs linoleic sunoil, which is currently paid to French crushers equals to about 100 EUR/MT. It is well above 40-50 USD (not EUR), which were paid during the most part of current season. The increase in price in the recent weeks for HO sunoil shows the market is short. That is why current premiums for sunoil, which are now around 100 EUR/MT may reach soon 150 EUR/MT”, said Luis Carlos Alonso, Senior Consultant, Bioalazor innovaciones S.L. within the ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION on 14 June at Sevilla VegOils&Meals Trade conference.


As well, Luis Carlos Alonso added: “Premium of 40 EUR/MT for HO sunoil created a very low premium for seed. 10 USD/MT in East Europe and 10 EUR/MT of seed in West. I expect premiums for seed will also grow. Premium for seed is calculate as Premium for oil divided by 2,5- 3 times. Thus, potentially, premium for HO sunoil could increase to 50-60 EUR”.
